I don't see the end of religion, I see it being more internet based though. I also see new types religions. Everyone worships someone or something and always will.

Jesus and the Mosaic Law...
by mP inive had many chats with tec and shes always fun but i must disagree with her angle on jesus and the mosaic law.
she always claims that jesus repealed the law.
ive asked for many times and she has yet to give the exact quote.. perhaps the most damning scripture for tec and friends is mat 5:18 where jesus unequivacably says the laws is perfect and will last forever.

Jesus did not abolish the Law, yet He "cleared" up HOW the Law was being kept for "it's own sake" instead of the sake of Israel.
So you think the law could be kept? If so what would one need Jesus for?

It's either Jesus' words or Paul's.
I see no conflict at all. It's both.
I whole-heartedly believe Paul's view of love and grace, it sounds beautiful but... it runs into issues with Jesus' words about the law as mP demonstrated above.
I don't believe you understood Paul's teaching. Why stop with verse 19? The Pharisees were honestly trying to keep the law. Jesus said that trying wasn't enough, so he kept the law, and gives us his righteousness as a gift. His righteousness far exceeds the (self) righteousness of the Pharisees.
Mat 5:20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
This was also taught in the old testament. Jesus is the "righteous branch"
Jer 23:5
"Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.
Jer 23:6
In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is the name by which he will be called: 'The LORD is our righteousness.'

Why doesn't the WT ever see it's self as "Wicked"?
by Deputy Dog inin luke 11:13 jesus refers to his beloved deciples as wicked.
the wt (and most jws) see themselves as faithful and discreet.
they are teaching people to be self-righteous arent they?.

The JWs are JWs, because they want to cheat death and go straight into a paradise Earth and live forever as perfect humans. If they wanted to float on a cloud with Jesus, they would have joined that Baptist church down the street. The GB is providing those faith building services to JWs just like the clergy do.-
When I read the bible I read from the standpoint of the fact that I'm the sinner in need.
The WT (JWs) on one side of their mouth admit to mistakes, but on the other side believe that they are righteous, faithful and discreet.
How does a faithful/wise servant make mistakes?

the israelites had it alot better than christians
by nowwhat? ini always wondered about this.
it seems the bar was alot lower in ancient israel.
all they had to do do was take the sabbath off to learn about jehovah and teach their children the same.

If you mean by christian= JWs. I can see your point.
If you are talking about real Christianity, I would say it's much easier to trust that Jesus has already done enough.

I don't want to speak for TEC. But, the bible does say:
Rom 5:18 Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. 19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
and
Rom 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.

by BU2B inlately when we have our family study we have been just reading the bible alone, without wt spin.
however i really need to start asking her good questions that wont set off her apostadar.
so i ask you fine folks; what are some questions or ways i can use the family study to help her think and start using her own mind on key ideas.

In John chapter 6 Jesus clearly states he is "the bread of life who came down out of heaven". Ask, What exactly came down? And when she gives an answer, Ask if Jesus is just a man or if he is an angel (what ever part came down of an angel) human hybred?

Is the Watchtower the most "dumbed down" Christian theology?
by cantleave inwhen i was a witness i used to think that the wt's interpretation of ezekiel daniel and revelation was quite didactic and intellectually robust.. then i left and started reading the works of real christian theologians and scholars.
i was amazed at how superficial and vacuous the watchtower theology was in comparison.. since i have left it would seem the standard of scholarly insight has dropped to a new low.
i am sure that this is because for generations the message has been, "don't go to college...." and a culture of mediocrity dominates, resulting in an uneducated leadership creating doctrine.

I wouldn't call the WT's theology "Christian at all.
